Wishing you a glorious hump day
To help you through your day, I present to you a drunk Jimmy Stewart.
Reflections
When I last posted, I was off to an Obama rally happening downtown, in front of Orchestra Hall. Some say there were up to 3.500 people in attendance, but it didn’t feel that big. After this event, as with most politically-oriented events I’ve come across this election year, I walked away with mixed feelings. Sure, I feel confident in my choice to vote for Obama and happy that he is, by far, the chosen candidate among my friends and family. That part of me is very certain that he will be our next president. At the same time, I realize that I live a rather sheltered life; in order to see a McCain sign in someone’s yard, I would have to venture out to the northern suburbs. I read headlines reminding me that the polls are neck and neck between the two candidates and I start to have my doubts. I’m sure I’m not alone in this.
Behold the power of blogs.
I haven’t had a chance to watch it in its entirety, but on Wednesday, Martha Stewart did a whole episode about blogging. All audience members were bloggers, all guest were bloggers. Everyone had a laptop in front of them (which looked pretty dorky and was probably a big plug for Apple) but hopefully enlightened many viewers on the blogging phenomenon. Even Martha has a blog!
Check out this Martha segment to see the women behind two of my favorite blogs, Smitten Kitchen and Cute Overload:
There are blogs of all kinds out there. Ruined Cakes, Accidents, Things Younger than John McCain… I also have links to other interesting blogs in the column to the right.
Now I’m off to an Obama rally at Peavey Plaza in response to a simultaneous John McCain appearance in Anoka. And I’ll probably blog about it later this weekend!
I’m a published reviewer!!
Everything’s coming up Jess. Yesterday evening, I came home to see a big, fat issue of Jewish Book World resting between my screen and front doors. My review of Geoff Herbach’s The Miracle Letters of T. Rimberg was published! And you can read the review! Of course I cropped and scanned it as soon as I got to work this morning!
In the words of Navin Johnson, I’m somebody!
Sunday Nights
Not much happening in my world tonight, and I rather like it. Plans include making some dishes I can take to work, including this simple chickpea number from Orangette and some variation on sesame peanut noodles found at most Chinese restaurants. And maybe an impromptu game of Settlers of Catan at Jake’s.
